A new coronavirus was discovered in the United States and is now called the Lassa virus. Corona virus cleanup It is an airborne virus that is very contagious and can easily be transmitted through droplets of saliva from one person to another person. The virus spreads through contact with infected saliva and mucus.
Symptoms of the virus will usually begin in the respiratory system, then spread throughout the body. The initial symptoms are flu like aches and pains, and fever. It is possible to experience more severe flu like symptoms such as severe headache, stiff neck, confusion, muscle aches, and fatigue.
The respiratory system is usually the first area where the virus infects the body. This will usually happen when the person coughs or sneezes, although it can also be spread through sharing objects, such as brushes, vacuum cleaners, masks, and other things that have come into contact with the eyes, nose, and mouth of someone who has the infection. Lassa virus is also commonly referred to as the “pus” virus. It is typically not associated with common colds, but it can also cause problems with pneumonia.
It can spread from person to person, even if no direct contact occurs. The virus is found in semen, saliva, and breast milk. Because it is not a typical flu-like illness, there is no way to tell how quickly it will spread from person to person.
A person infected with this virus may also show no outward signs of infection. Although they may experience flu like symptoms, the virus does not enter the bloodstream. Instead, it enters the lymph nodes and becomes latent. It does not cause symptoms until it is activated, which is a condition that occurs on a regular basis within the Lassa virus, but which is not known at this time. The incubation period for this type of virus is between thirty to ninety days. During this time, the body is weakened. A person infected with this virus will typically experience flu like symptoms, but there is not known to be a vaccine that can prevent this illness. Currently, there is no vaccine for Lassa.
Since this virus can be spread through the air, there is an immediate need to find a way to prevent an infection from spreading. The best method for this is to avoid sharing items that have come into contact with the eyes, nose, and mouth of an infected person. This includes drinking beverages that contain the virus, and foods that have been prepared by an infected person. The illness is also more common in children than in adults, and there is no known cure for Lassa.
Since the illnesses caused by this virus is caused by a weakened immune system, the severity of the symptoms is directly related to the amount of virus that the person is exposed to. To help prevent this illness, persons are encouraged to make sure that they are well taken care of, including having immunizations against the virus. If an infected person shows any signs of being unwell, they should get medical attention immediately.
